Nov 2 LG Election: 5 Leadership Takeaways from Governor Alex Otti on LP Choice of Mayoral candidates.

1. A good coach must know his team: Good leadership is about knowing your people, their strengths and where they are best suited to function. Just look at the quality of people that got the LP tickets across the 17 LGAs… accomplished professionals, reliable men and warriors who were integral in the long drawn battle for the soul of this State. The Governor has made an excellent choice in appointing his A team to scale the vision of our New Abia to the rural communities….

2. The individuals to drive the vision is as important as the vision itself: Yes, Gov. Alex C. Otti has a robust vision for the holistic development of our great State. But vision need men to drive them, to get things done in order to achieve the outcomes desired. The choice of candidates to fly LP’s flag across the State tells a very interesting story of vision, and a commitment to follow through because a good vision entrusted into the hands of bad men will mean the same thing as a bad vision driven by a good man. The message our Governor is sending is clear: we have a vision, and we have the men to implement them across the State.

3. Loyalty pays: If you remain loyal and committed to a cause, at the right time, your opportunity will come. This is especially so when you are working with a leader who values your work and appreciates your sacrifices. Gov. Otti has in his choice of mayors-to-be, shown that he pays attention, and that he has his ears to the ground.

4. Communicate: The Governor never set out to decieve the people. He told them that the party will prioritise certain criteria in its choice of candidates with loyalty, competence and sacrifice for the cause being major criteria. He never gave false hope to anyone and never set out to sell idle expectations to those who wanted something for their investment in the course of the struggle. He simply wanted people who understand why we are here, and what it took us to be here, and why the people deserve better.

5. Election are essentially connected to development: The message here is that elections are part of the development process and must be taken seriously. Imagine what will happen in Abia if the 17 LGA chairmen that will be sworn-in after November 2 elect to work at the same pace as our Governor. Where do you place Abia to be in the next 3 years? Think, Gov Otti is very strategic in his approach to the pursuit of enduring development across all parts of the State.
