Abia LP clarifies position on false reports regarding claims on party affiliation of Gov Otti joining APC leading to postponement of Congress in Abia.
The Labour party in Abia state has refuted claims in some quarters that the All Progressive Congress in Abia state postponed the state Congress because of rumours making the rounds was to pave way for Gov Alex Otti to defect to the party stating that there is no iota of truth to that effect.
In a press release signed by the Labour Party Publicity Secretary in Abia state, Mazi Chidiebere Okoro made available to our reporter in Umuahia,the party vehemently denied what it considers false reports been currently circulating across media space,noting that Governor Alex Otti remains in Labour party and has no intention of joining APC as misconstrued in some quarters.
According to the press statement,”We state unequivocally that these claims are entirely untrue and baseless. His Excellency remains a committed and bona fide member of the Labour Party, under whose platform he was elected and under which he continues to faithfully serve the good people of Abia State.”
Since assuming office, Governor Otti has demonstrated unwavering dedication to the principles of good governance, transparency, accountability, and inclusive development. Under his purposeful leadership, Abia State has recorded measurable progress across critical sectors, including infrastructure renewal, healthcare reform, educational advancement, and economic empowerment initiatives. Numerous projects aimed at improving the welfare of citizens, creating opportunities for youth and women, and strengthening the state’s economic foundation are ongoing and yielding positive results.
It is regrettable that such unfounded rumors are being propagated at a time when the administration is fully focused on consolidating developmental gains. The spread of unverified information serves only to distract from the serious work of governance and risks misleading the public.
Governor Otti remains steadfast in his commitment to delivering tangible results and ensuring that government policies and initiatives proceed without disruption or needless speculation.
To this end,Abia Labour party therefore called on members of the media, political stakeholders, and the general public to verify information through credible and official sources before dissemination.
