It is an undisputable fact that Dr Chimaobi Desmond Anyaso a.k.a Ofuji is a renowned Philanthropist. His philanthropic gestures through Dr Chima Desmond Anyaso foundation rings a bell within Abia state, Nigeria and beyond.
Observers say this is a well known fact that he has been applauded for by all and sundry
He is one personality that does need to wait for electioneering period to extend his hand of fellowship, gratitude to the less privileged in the society.
This rare attributes is unlike so many called today’s politicians that wait for the critical period to give dangling carrots to unwary public that would not be able to easily read their ugly hand writings.
It is therefore no wonder that Dr Chima Desmond Anyaso is today a cult- hero,the masses follow him,the students see him as their great role model,youths see him as one of their own to whom they are well pleased
Even so – called established politicians before his foray into politics are hiding behind in anticipation of any accrue political goodwill.
This is perception of Dr Chima Desmond Anyaso,an illustrious son of Igbere in Bende local government area of Abia state as he continues to lavish his humanitarian services to the humanity.
On Thursday,Ist January,2026,in his usual characteristics of extending his God giving wealth to others,he doled out the handsome sum of fifty million naira as a new year empowerment to about 100 sons of Bende local government. What a nice way of kick- starting a new year? What a new year package? This young man called ” Ofuji” by his supporters and admirers must be an enigma of some sort.
The colourful event which was held at the Ofuji Arena, Igbere, Bende Local Government Area of Abia State, brought together political leaders, traditional rulers, captains of industry and socialites to celebrate the gift of a new year and pray for peace, progress and prosperity in Abia State and Nigeria at large.
One of such political irokos that graced the event was the number one citizen of Abia state,His Excellency, Dr Alex Chioma Otti OFR, Executive Governor of Abia state who appreciates the good works Dr Chima Desmond Anyaso is doing to assist his administration rendering humanitarian services to the less privileged of the society.
The former Governor,now Senator representing Abia North in the National Assembly, Senator Orji Uzo Kalu was amongst other eminent personalities that graced the occasion.
As a way of showing gratitude to God, the event was conceived primarily to appreciate God for the gift of a new year and to bring Abians together in unity.
In an interview with journalists in the state,the organizer of the maiden edition of the Ofuji All-White/Fireworks and New Year Thanksgiving Party, Dr Chima Anyaso, explained that the celebration, which was previously held on the last day of every year, was moved to the first day of the year to make it more symbolic and impactful.
According to him, the shift was deliberate, as it allows the gathering to serve both as a New Year celebration and a thanksgiving service, thereby, making the event bigger and more inclusive.
According to Igbere born business mogul” “The essence of this event is to thank God for the new year. We decided to bring it forward to January 1 so it can double as a New Year celebration. It is about bringing people together to appreciate God and thank Him for the wonderful year we believe 2026 will be”.
Anyaso noted that the Ofuji All-White/Fireworks Party would henceforth become an annual tradition, aimed at creating a platform for Abians to collectively appreciate God for life and fresh opportunities.
On New Year resolutions, the philanthropist described them as personal decisions rooted in individual faith, stressing that success comes when faith is matched with action.
He emphasized that New Year resolutions are personal, as It doesn’t mean everyone would believe the same thing. “It is about faith, and when you put your faith into work, it will surely come to pass”, he stated.
Reeling out his expectations for the new year, the Political stalwart acknowledged that Nigerians, particularly Abians, have high hopes for 2026, especially given the political activities that would precede the 2027 general elections.
He described 2026 as a critical year when politicians begin strategic moves ahead of the elections, noting that beyond politics, citizens expect improved governance and better living conditions.
“As Nigerians, we have expectations, especially from government. 2025 was quite interesting, with a lot of agitations already pointing towards the elections. 2026 is an important year because it is when politicians begin to position themselves for 2027. But beyond politics, what we want is better governance, better life for our people and improved living conditions”, he stated.
On the issue of insecurity in the South East, Dr Anyaso downplayed the widespread fears, pointing that the situation on ground is not as alarming as often portrayed on the social media.
He, however, advised residents and visitors to remain vigilant and take personal safety seriously. “I have been here since the 23rd and there has been no incident or cause for worry. It is not like insecurity does not exist, but it is not as bad as it is being portrayed online. People should be conscious and not lose their guard”, he said.
Anyaso further advised those who returned home for festivities to plan their movements carefully and ensure adequate security arrangements. “If you are around for the festivities, do your calculations well, be security conscious. Personally, I have my security arrangements. People without security personnel should mind their movements and move with caution. So far, insecurity has reduced to a reasonable state”, he added.
The Ofuji All-White/Fireworks and New Year Thanksgiving Party marked a colourful and peaceful start to the New Year, as hundred Bende sons were empowered with fifty million naira.
