Mrs Enwereuzo leads as Umuahia South Commences Measles – Rubella Vaccination Awareness Campaign
The Wife of the Mayor of Umuahia South Local Government Area, Mrs. Jemilat W. Enwereuzo, has commenced a Measles-Rubella immunization awareness campaign across four schools in Umuahia South LGA,
The schools visited included:
Ubakala Community Primary School, Ubakala Central Primary School, Mgbarakuma Community Primary School, and Mgbarakuma Community Secondary School.
This initiative demonstrates the government’s commitment to the health and safety of children in Umuahia South.
In her address, Mrs. Enwereuzo emphasized the importance of the campaign, urging parents, guardians, and teachers to ensure eligible children are vaccinated.
She announced that the vaccines would be available at Primary Health Centres across the state while noting that Measles-Rubella poses a serious public health threat and stressed the need for active participation to ensure every eligible child receives the vaccine.
Mrs Enwereuzo however encouraged the spread of awareness about the Measles-Rubella vaccine to communities and grassroots.
The wife of Mayor of Umuahia South who expressed her gratitude to Her Excellency, Mrs. Priscilla C. Otti, the wife of the Governor of Abia State, for her continued support in immunization campaigns across the state, working to ensure no eligible child is left behind or unimmunized.
Regarding the forthcoming Measles-Rubella vaccination campaign, scheduled to commence in February 2026, for eligible children aged 9 months to 14 years, Mrs. Enwereuzo urged teachers to aid in disseminating information and ensuring every parent and guardian is informed.
She highlighted the importance of vaccination and encouraged teachers to play their roles in ensuring every eligible child receives the Measles-Rubella vaccine, leaving no child unimmunized.
