The term” Redan means Real Estate Development Association of Nigeria.It is the umbrella body that holds all Estate Developers members in Nigeria together, to distinguished them from quacks.

Three weeks ago, precisely on 21st August to 22nd August,2024,the National body of Real Estate Development Association held a two day workshop at Sun’s Heavens Hotel and Suites Umuagu Umuahia North local Government area of Abia State.

The purpose was to bring forth the awareness to their members in Abia State ,their activities having been silent for some years past before some of the progressive minded Estate Development members stepped up the game , mobilize their colleagues leading to it’s establishment in God’s own state.

The said workshop attracted who is who in the Estate Development industry starting from their National President, Commissioner for Lands and Housing,Hon Chaka Chukwumereije,the immediate past General Manager of Abia State Estate Development Agency ,ASEDA, Chief Sir Okechukwu Ndukwe,etc.

In an interview with Chief Sir Okechukwu Ndukwe, said that the Real Estate Development Association has come to stay in Abia and in Nigeria given the prospects of building sub sector.

He added that Estate Development is a world wide business because of the Housing deficits all over the world, adding that if you go to Kigali,Canada United States of America,United Kingdom,etc the business has come to stay in those countries of the world.

According to the National Committee member of Real Estate Development Association of Nigeria,Chief Sir Okechukwu Ndukwe said that Estate Development is a world wide business that has a great and beautiful prospects to explore.

The former General Manager of Abia State Estate Development Agency ASEDA, Chief Sir Okechukwu Ndukwe noted with satisfaction the avalanche of prospects in Redan if tapped to the fullest adding that it has World wide prospect.

He however regretted that some years past ,Redan was very silent in Abia owing to the mindset of Realtors who practiced it then as a skeletal level adding due to low level awareness on the potentials of the association holds in their subconscious but however expressed delight that it is now a thing of the past when progressive minded Estate Developers like him came on board.

“When we came on board,we mobilize and encourage people to come into “Real Estate business” encourage people who have been practicing real estate to come together,let us come together to maximize on the gains inherent in the industry ” Ndukwe said.

Chief sir Okechukwu Ndukwe who expressed delight that the prospects for Real Estate business is very high because there are many heactres of land at Abia North Senatorial District, Abia Central and Abia South Senatorial zones respectively that require development.

He maintained that when his likes came in ,the business was silent in Abia because the then players in the business have been doing it in a very small scale,did not thought it wise to synergize with others from other states because no one person can do the real estate business alone,it requires synergy with other people.

On the Workshop that held at Umuahia,the Knight of John Wesley, Methodist church Nigeria,Sir Okechukwu Ndukwe said it was a welcome development in that it was intended to hint the people of the existence of Redan in Abia State in addition to exchanging ideas with over estate developers from Lagos state, Anambra who have been in the business for a long time.

To this end,he appreciated the gains of the workshop noting that in the training ground,they started getting demands from Realtors,Market agents which demands are coming from their customers.

On Government partnership with Redan in the State.

The Amuzukwu Ibeku born Estate Developer said Abia State Government can partner with Real Estate Development Association of Nigeria in so many ways such as :
Seamless acquisition of land, seamless registration of title documents, building of access roads into most of the estates,provision of basic amenities etc.

On how to know to identify Redan members against quacks .

Ndukwe pointed out that every registered member of Redan has a Seal which he is entitled to afix in any titled documents he is involved with. Nobody who is not a member has the seal because the seal comes from their head office.
If we find quack who is impersonating Redan,we will easily fish out the fellow because we know our members and they must have a seal from their head office which is a symbol of authority.

The National Committee member,Chief Sir Okechukwu Ndukwe therefore restated high prospects of Estate Development in Abia because of the value chain benefits while calling on people to key in to this very important real estate business sub sector of the economy.

Also speaking during the two days workshop,the National President of REDAN,Mr Akintoye Adeoye said that the reason why the chose Abia for the workshop was because the state is now becoming a destination point for investment due to the conducive environment provided by the present government of Dr Alex Chioma Otti of Labour Party.

REDAN National President stated this during a two day Abia State Housing Submit, with the theme , “Building a Sustenable Future Through Real Estate Development”. said that there is money in Real Estate business adding that to make it, you must keep to the basic rules of integrity, due diligent, team work, networking, trust, sincerity among others.

He further disclosed that they are in Abia to sensitize their members and at the same time cement their relationship with the state government.

National President noted that they are using the opportunity to woe investors, sensitize them to come into Abia and invest adding that encuberances hindering investing in the state has become a thing of the past due to policies they have seen on ground.

“Money goes to where it is profitable, you will know government who is ready for business and investment, and we have seen it with the administration of Dr Alex Otti”.

He noted that the terms and conditions they have so far gotten in Abia in ease of doing business is what has led them into the state.

Speaking, the Sate Chairman of REDAN, Ndukwu Eziyi Kalu, thanked governor Otti for his developmental strides, noting that it’s the reason why they were able to hold the First REDAN submit in Abia.

“Otti has open up the state, for interaction, ease of doing business, he has made it possible for you to get your CofO within a month, your CofO is the key, it gives you credibility, because without land, you can not achieve anything.

He revealed that the governor talked about smart cities in Umuahia and Aba,said REDAN is strategic in playing a major role, a value chain.

Speaking on how Otti is changing the narrative of Abia, said he has become the chairman of REDAN in the last administration and since the inception of Otti, in May last year a lot started changing.

“I observed the difference in doing business, passion and zeal this present government is putting in to succeed”.

He reiterated that Otti is widening the space and people are now coming in eager to invest, adding that REDAN will remove the quack among them.

Speaking during the opening ceremony, the Commissioner for Land/Housing, Hon Chaka Chukwumerije said the submit is a welcome development as it will help to spotlight and project the state in good light.

He revealed that the governor is passionate and sincere in ensuring that investors are flocking into Abia and the reason he has removed everything that hinders the ease of doing business in the state.

“The governor has made it in such a way that when an investors comes, they will have unhindered access to land, conducive and friendly environment, security among others.

One of the guest lecturer, and MD Assemblies of God Church Mortgage bank, Ngozi Anyaogu, said the Association should be intentional about Housing Development and be prepared in managing their customers and also adhere by their business term,

He said to make Housing avoidable government should be able to provide basic infrastructure, like construction of roads, providing water, electricity, he said if the builder should be made to provide all this it means houses will be expensive for the average person.
