The Labour Party Chairmanship candidate for Ukwa West in the forthcoming November 2,2024 Local Government Election in Abia State, Pastor Dike Nwankwo has dismissed the possible threat from the Peoples Democratic party with a wave of hand saying that the party is literally dead in Abia State.
Ukwa West LP Chairmanship candidate, Pastor Dike Nwankwo stated this in an interview with journalists at Party Secretariat Umuahia, that PDP had an opportunity which they never utilized , adding that everybody knows about it that PDP has lost relevance as far Abia politics is concerned.
“Just two days ago,they collapsed their structure and entered the All Progressive Congress , therefore it cannot pose any threat to his candidacy and other flag bearers of Labour Party in the forthcoming council polls in the state.” Pastor Dike Nwankwo said.
Pastor Dike Nwankwo who used the opportunity to thank his party stakeholders for choosing him as the candidate of the Labour Party for Ukwa West LGA while describing the screening exercise as fantastic.
He added that the parameters set for those that will emerge was very clear : one, looking at a loyal party man,must be one has capacity to deliver and must be competent stressing that he posseses those qualities and was elected.
He however promised not to disappoint but to replicate the good work Governor Alex Otti is doing in the state when voted to power after the conduct of 2nd November,2024 LGA polls in Abia State.
The Ukwa West LP Chairmanship candidate said that he has also extended an olive branch to defeated aspirants asking them to work and with him , whatever ideas they have should bring them forth for the overall interest of the Council area.
On the things he will do when he gets into office,the LP Chairmanship candidate, that Ukwa West as everybody knows is “Treasure Base” of Abia State but they do not enjoyed the dividends of oil rich wealth because even the oil companies operating in the area do not pay royalty to the Local Government
They are not accountable,we must make sure,every industry,every oil company must recognize the fact that there is a local government,a local council that supritends over the area,we will,make sure they do what is called Corporate Social responsibility to make sure the host community where they operate is carried along in all they do in that local government .
“Of course,Ukwa West has been suffering from a lot of infrastructural decay,we will make sure we up the ante to ensure that we do well,we don’t have light, we don’t have road,for the past four years,we have not seen light in Ukwa West
To this end,the Mayoral candidate for Ukwa West, Pastor Dike Nwankwo regretted that” this is abominable,it is not supposed to be like that,A local government cannot stay without light,that is unthinkable,”we will ensured that light is restored ,that is a big assignment,
