On Thursday, evening,at international conference Center,ICC,Ogurube lay out, Umuahia,Abia State Governor, Dr Alex Chioma Otti was conferred with security award by the Nigeria Police Force.

The award presentation which was carried out by a no mean personality,Hon Minister of State for Police Affairs, Imaan Hajia Suleiman Ibrahim, with the Abia State Commissioner of Police,CP Kenechukwu Onwuemelie in attendance.

Others who were physically present in the epoch making event included:.the Deputy Governor of Abia State,Engr Ikechukwu Emetu, Minister of State for Labour and Productivity,Dr Nkeiruka Onyejeocha,an illustrious daughter of Abia State, the Secretary to the State Government,Prof Kalu,the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Chairman , Abia Traditional rulers Council, HRM Eze Linus Nto Mbah ,Pastor Caleb Ajagba and etc.

Speaking at the occasion ,Governor Alex Chioma Otti vowed to keep to the mandate of securing Abia State to make it a safe haven for all and sundry to live and transact their businesses as well as making it uncomfortable for the criminal elements still living in the State.

In recognition of attention in securing Abia State for crime rates to be drastically reduced to it’s barest minimum
Governor Alex Otti bagged Security award from Nigeria Police Force.

Presenting the award to Abia Governor,the Honourable Minister of State for Police Affairs, Imaan Hajia Suleiman Ibrahim commended Dr Alex Otti for giant strides recorded in getting rid of crimes and criminality in God’s own state through pragmatic action plans.

during the Renewed Hope Agenda on a ” Citizens’ Town Hall Engagement Strengthening Community policing in Nigeria which has come and gone with commendations galore to the organizers for a job well done.

Speaking at the occasion,the Minister of State for Police Affairs, Imaan Hajia Suleiman Ibrahim lauded the efforts of Abia State Governor, Dr Alex Chioma Otti in fighting crimes and criminality in the state within the shortest time he took over as the fifth Executive Governor of Abia State.

Ibrahim who commended Abia for renowned ingenuity for commerce and industry, making the state a focal point for trade across the Southeast and beyond.

The visiting Minister of State for Police Affairs however pointed out that this
economic vibrancy also presents specific security challenges, particularly in the areas of business-related crimes.

“Additionally, the state’s strategic location along key transit routes adds another layer of complexity.

“It necessitates robust measures to address issues such as road safety, smuggling, and the protection of critical infrastructure.

“Despite these challenges, Abia State has consistently shown resilience, and we are here to help strengthen it further.”

“We have a clear appreciation that security begins at home”.
“It is local, and we must acknowledge and embrace the unique dynamics of each community in our pursuit of a safer nation.”

The Hon Minister of State for Police Affairs,Hajia Imaan Suleiman Ibrahim however harped on the need for all stakeholders to join hands together in order to strengthen community policing in Nigeria.

Hajia Imaan Suleiman Ibrahim noted that security is everybody’s business that
President Bola Tinubu was committed to strengthening the operational capability of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), through the implementation of his Renewed Hope Police Agenda.

According to her ” the town hall with the theme “Community Policing: Building a Safer Nigeria Together” was a significant shift in government’s approach to policing.

She further urged the stakeholders to form a local security intervention that is peculiar to each community to ensure full participation of members.

The Honourable Minister for Police Affairs who revealed that the implementation of a community policing strategy is designed based on local peculiarities and considerations, with the full participation of members of the various communities and stakeholder blocks.

According to her, the aim is to ensure inclusivity and full ownership.

In his remarks while declaring open the Renewed Hope Agenda on a Citizens’ Town Hall Engagement strengthening Community policing in Nigeria,Abia State Governor,Dr Alex Otti vowed to make the state a safe haven for all as well as making it uncomfortable for criminal elements in the state.

He added that his administration has invested so much on security knowing fully well that other investments would amount to nothing when the people are not safe.

Gov Otti commended Nigeria Police Force ( NPF) and other security agencies for their collaboration with the State Government in making Abia a safer place.

Otti pointed out that he will continue to deliver on his mandate of securing the State and called on all Abians to join hands to boost security in the state.

at the town hall meeting with the theme: “Community policing, Building a Safer State Together”, underscored the importance of security, noting that security remains on the agenda of his administration, hence the setting up of joint security taskforce codenamed “Operation Crush” to tackle insecurity and all forms of criminality in the state.

According to him,”On assumption of office in May last year, I announced that security of lives and property shall be the number one priority of the State government as stipulated in the constitution.

“We made good our promise a few weeks later by setting up a joint task force code named “operation crush” and gave them a very simple mandate to make Abia State a safe place for law abiding citizens and a very uncomfortable territory for criminals”, the Governor explained.

He highlighted that the meeting which presents an opportunity for a robust engagement will reawaken citizens on their responsibilities to prevent crime by assisting the law enforcement agencies.

In her goodwill message, the minister of labour and Productivity, Dr. Nkeiruka Onyejeocha described the town hall meeting as apt as it will provide ndi Abia the opportunity to get first hand information in Community policing and appreciate Governor Otti for prioritizing security in every part of the state.

Meanwhile, the Abia State Commissioner of Police, CP Kenechukwu Onwuemelie, thanked the minister for the visit, reassured the command’s commitment in fighting crime and criminality in the state.

He urged the stakeholders to collaborate with the police in order to ensure effective community policing.

The event which featured the presentation of security award to the Governor and panel interactive session was attended by the Deputy Governor, His Excellency, Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu, the Chairman committee on Security, Climate change and Special intervention, Chief Sam Onuigbo, Members of the State Executive Council, the State Commissioner of Police Cp Kenechukwu Onwuemelie and other security and service Chiefs, the Chairman Abia State council of traditional Rulers HRM. Eze Linus Nto Mbah, Chairman of Abia State PCRC Chief Iheanyi Igboanulam and a host of others.
