Abia at 33: Gov Otti has done very well,needs to focus more

on mechanized farming to curb food insufficiency…Eze Pastor Philip Ajomiwe,

The traditional ruler of Oriendu Autonomous community, Ohuhu in Umuahia North local government area of Abia State,HRM Eze Pastor Ambassador Philip Ajomiwe has lauded the giant strides recorded so far by the Labour Party led Government noting that Governor Alex Otti has done very well within the few months in office.

Eze Pastor Philip Ajomiwe said that before Governor Alex Chioma Otti came on board,the previous administrations of the Peoples Democratic Party,PDP did not do much to fast track development in constrast to what Dr Alex Otti whom he described as God Sent Governor is doing ,stating that he came to the rescue and to wipe away the people’s tears.

Eze Pastor Philip Ajomiwe who was the former Chairman Umuahia North Council of Traditional rulers stated this at his Oriendu Palace, Ubaha Oriendu while responding to questions from Blueprint newspapers in Umuahia on Abia at her thirty three years existence where it was created out of the old Imo state.

He noted that prior to emergence of the ex -banker turned Executive Governor of Abia State that Umuahia,the state capital of Abia State was regarded as a glorified village owing to huge infrastructural deficits observed during past administrations of Dr Orji Uzor Kalu,Chief Dr T A Orji and Dr Okezie Victor Ikpeazu and that traders used to occupied main roads to hawk their wares at Aba.

Eze Ajomiwe further disclosed that investors were not willing to come into Abia and invest because the environment was not conducive enough but
noted with satisfaction that all these glaring lapses are now things of the past.

Eze Ajomiwe who is a renowned agriculturist in the state however called on the state government to pay priority attention to the agricultural sector especially on mechanized farming in order to increase food sufficiency in the State.

According to him, everyone can see what Governor Alex Otti is doing to change the narratives of Abia State within the first fifteen months in office,he has excelled on building of roads ,let him redirect greater efforts after one year plus in office to embrace mechanized farming in order to solve stomach infrastructure.

The royal father added that though the present hardship in the country was not caused by the Labour Party led Government but caused by the federal government .

Eze Pastor Philip Ajomiwe further stressed that now the hardship is telling on everyone,let our performing governor concentrate more on agriculture, mechanized farming in order to produce food in commercial quantities.

He pointed out that the former Minister of Agriculture,Dr Adeshina predicted that Abia should not only be number one in alphabetical order but also in massive production of agricultural products, noting that mechanized farming is the only way to go in this economic quagmire we find ourselves.

The renowned farmer in Abia State noted that if his cassava processing plant can be enhanced through mechanized agriculture,the factory has the potentials of producing odourless fufu,casava grits ,startch etc in commercial quantities.
