Abia: Akpabio to perform official unveiling  of Amadeus University,Amizi, Ikwuano

…University set  to matriculate 40 pioneer students.

The President of Senate of the red chambers in the National Assembly, Senator Godswill Akpabio has been invited to perform the official unveiling of Amadeus University, Amizi,in Ikwuano local government area of Abia State as a Special Guest of Honour.

Similarly,His Excellency, Dr Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, Executive Governor of Abia State is expected to grace the occasion as a Guest of Honour.

The Vice Chancellor of Amadeus University ,Amizi Ikwuano, Professor Samuel Nzotta revealed this to journalists during a press conference held today at Senate chambers of the University stating that epoch making event cum matriculation ceremony of pioneer students will take place on Saturday,8th February, 2025 at the University’s matriculation arena.

Nzotta further revealed that other dignitaries expected to grace the epoch making event included :Joint Matriculation and Admission Board (JAMB )and National Universities Commission (NUC) officials ,their Mentor institution( Nnamdi Azikiwe University) and Vice Chancellors of various Universities in the South East zone of Nigeria will also be in attendance.

Professor Samuel Nzotta who pointed out that at the maiden matriculation ceremony,fourty (40) students who were admitted into the various approved programmes of the university during the 2024/2025 academic session shall formally be admitted into the university and administered with the Oath of Allegiance which he said requires them to abide by the rules and regulations of the University.

The Vice Chancellor of Amadeus University, Amizi also disclosed that the essence of the press conference is to intimate their audience and members of the press with information on the history, vision,mission, philosophy,and objectives of the University and particularly the progress made  since the commencement of academic activities in the University.

Amadeus University’s Vice Chancellor however gave a historical background of the university, Professor Nzotta explained that Amadeus university Amizi,was promoted by Dr  Godwin Nwabunka who is also the Chairman of Board of Trustees, Grooming Centre,adding that this is against the background of his desire to contribute to the educational development of Nigeria at the tertiary level.

According to the Vice Chancellor ” Amadeus university Amizi was conceived following the realization that education is a major tool for empowerment and for driving people out of poverty.

Dr Godwin Nwabunka, thus brought his vast knowledge in Development Economics,Professional experience and academic background to bear in the establishment and funding of the University,the serene environment of Amizi was chosen as location of the University.”

He pointed out that the Academic Brief for the establishment of the University was submitted to the National Universities Commission in 2022 after a rigorous screening and validation exercise,a provisional license was granted by the National Universities Commission (NUC) in 2023.

Nzotta further noted that the University commence academic activities following  licensed by National Universities Commission,NUC ,2023 and that Nineteen (19) programmes under four faculties were presented to NUC team that visited the University April 2024 and that regulatory body evaluated the human and material resources available for the programmes and conveyed approval subsequently on April
23,2024 .

He further stressed that the University is committed to providing the students with an exceptional learning experience that extends beyond text books and class room work.

Amadeus University further noted that the university fosters critical thinking, creativity and a global perspective which prepares students for the demands of a dynamic and ever changing world.

To this end,he further disclosed that approved programmes by the NUC are as follows:

The Vice Chancellor promised that plans are on the way to establish Radio station,News room for Mass Communication students to enable them excel in the practical aspect of journalism.

To this end, Professor Samuel Nzotta therefore called on the general public to  patronize Amadeus University, Amizi noting that it is not only a World class University but they are not training students to be job seekers but to be job creators upon graduation from the University.

In his vote of thanks,the Dean , Faculty of Social and Management Sciences, Professor Chukwuemeka Uzoma Okugo appreciated journalists in the State for attending the press conference in their numbers while urging them to publicize the affairs of the school to the general public.

Professor added that Amadeus University Amizi is a World class University that in no distant future ,Nigerians will appreciate the fact that it is an institution conceived to nurture future leaders .

He however expressed optimism that some of the students such as : Sam Obinna Ibe of Blueprint/ Publisher Newsmakers celebrity magazine and Newsmakersonline,Victor Ndukwe of BCA,Steve Oko of Vanguard and Godwin Ike of Magic Fm radio,Aba etc ,he nurtured while at Abia State University Uturu as the then Head of Department,HOD ,Mass Communication are now doing pretty well in their various media organizations as media practitioners stating that it was something to proud of amidst applause by University management.
