On assumption of office,29th May,2023,Dr Alex Chioma Otti as the Fifth Executive Governor of Abia State,one of areas he gave priority attention was security of lives and properties of the citizenry in Abia State.

The Ex-banker turned Executive Governor of Abia State had explained that no meaningful development can take place without adequate security of lives and properties, adding that that the reason why ridding the state of crimes and criminality of any kind becomes a decideratum .

Hence the establishment of a security outfit codenamed” Operation Crush” since then,Umunneochi Lokpanta axis of Abia North notorious for kidnapping and other violent crimes were quickly brought under control.

In addition, policing and securing other parts of the state became the core mandates of Operation Crush,the in roads made by the security outfit where all the security agencies pulled their resources and expertise to bear in order to rid the state of violent crimes and criminality.

The resultant effects is that today Abia is safe,secured and atmosphere security friendly for investors to come in and invest .

No doubt,the security situation in Abia State has been adjudged as calm and safe where citizens go about their lawful businesses without fear of any security breach .

In keeping to faith for a peaceful security situation in the state, earlier Wednesday,
14th May, the Executive Governor of Abia State, His Excellency, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, chaired the monthly security council meeting with all heads of government security agencies in the State.

Meanwhile,briefing the media after the meeting, the special adviser to the Governor on Security matters, Navy Commander MacDonald Ubah (Rtd.) reiterated the commitment of the State Government to sustain the calm and peaceful atmosphere in the State.

He thanked all heads of government security agencies in the State for attending the routine monthly security council meeting to evaluate the level of security around the State with the a view to strengthening and consolidating the gains.

In a press statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Citizen Ukoha Kalu Ukoha made available to journalists in Umuahia,the
Special Adviser to the Governor on Security Matters, Rtd. Navy Commander MacDonald Ubah commended the cordial and harmonious working relationship existing between the State and the security agencies including the collaboration among the various security agencies in intelligence gathering and information sharing to combat crimes and criminality.

He thanked the heads of security agencies for aligning with the Governor to eliminate Inter-agency rivalry in the State.

He reassured Abians of the Governor’s commitment to provide all that is necessary to support the security agencies to effectively do their work and maintain law and order across the State.

The meeting was attended by Nigeria Army, Navy, Police, Immigration, NDLEA, Civil Defence, Customs, DSS, Road Safety, Prisons and Homeland Security.
