It was jubilation galore as Hon Onyedi Okwulehie palliatives largesse in concert with National Emergency Management Agency NEMA excite party chieftains, constituents royal fathers and leaders of thought expressed their appreciations for the duo distributed palliatives largesse worths millions of naira to the good people of Umuahia North LGA of Abia State.

In their ecstatic mood,the beneficiaries however showered encomiums to their benefactors while describing the gesture as rescue mission in the face of bitting inflation.

They commended the donors for restoring their hopes in the face of current economic hardship in the country.

It could be recalled that High Chief Hon Onyedi Okwulehie on Monday ,16th day of September,2024,on his birthday graciously distributed the said palliatives,the essence of the distribution of the food items to his constituents is to cushion the economic hardship associated with the removal of fuel subsidy.

It is on record that this was not the first time of Hon Onyedi Okwulehie touching lives positively to the less privileged in the society,he had between last December,2023, to date showered his people with dividends of democracy such as :pumping machines to aid agricultural products,bought five motorcycles which were gifted to beneficiaries in all the five politicial wards that make up Ohuhu state constituency of Umuahia North,solar street lights were also donated to the traditional rulers in Ohuhu land to mention but a few .

Obviously, election time is not somehow near the corner but Hon Onyedi Okwulehie rather than thrown frivolous party or indulges in an unnecessary merriment with people in the same social ladder with him on his birthday,16th September,2024,he is not certainly cut out for that,as a grassroots man ,he remembered his people, the poor,the have- nots,he decided to celebrate his birthday with them showing love and care, sharing food items worths millions of naira to the applause of the recipients.

According to the scion of the legendary late Dee Sam Okwulehie,”I feel touched by the effects of the removal of fuel subsidy and feel like sharing to my people palliative in order to bring down our people’s suffering ”

High Chief Hon Onyedi Okwulehie further revealed that that this is a way of showing concern on the plight of his people was in his mind and decided to assist in his own little way while appealing to those who did not benefit today, assuring that tomorrow is another day.

He assured that soonest second batch palliatives would come on stream adding that it may not necessarily be in the way of food items but in aid of agricultural products as well as empowerment scheme.

Meanwhile, over five hundred people benefitted from the palliative largesse while the food items were shared to the people of Ohuhu,Ibeku and including Urban dwellers.

In reciprocation,the beneficiaries showered encomiums to Hon Onyedi Okwulehie often described as ” Omekannaya” (one who does like his father ) The women,the aged,the youths prayed God to replenish whatever he must have spent to give hope to the hopeless,put food to the tables of the people who may not have the resources to buy given other competing needs with limited resources.

The following were the items were shared across politicial divides including those who did not belong to any politicial parties.

Seasoning – 9 cartons

Guinea/Brocade – 185 pieces
Wax prints ( Wrappers) – 118 pieces
Plastic spoons – 192 pieces
Plastic cups – 192 pieces
Plastic plates – 192 pieces

Sharing the Palliatives,at Umuda Isingwu Hon Onyedi Okwulehie constituency office,the Secretary of Odinma Ohuhu,Mr Nathaniel Oji said that High Chief Hon Onyedi Okwulehie is a man flowing with milk of human kindness has thus directed that everyone must get at least one food item, directive which was eventually carried out to the letter.

Beneficiaries of these palliatives were full of praises and prayers for the donor praying God to replenish his pocket having remembered them at this crucial moment of economic hardship in the country.

Speaking during the distribution of palliatives,the State Chairman of All Progressive Congress,APC, Dr Kingsley Ononogbu lauded Hon Onyedi Okwulehie for taken this large heart to remember the poor .

He added that this was a man who won election at the polls but unfortunately, and lost it after election through court pronouncement,yet he still had the mind to remember his constituents while describing it as a feat rare to come by.

According to Abia APC Chairman,” We should aspire to use politicial offices to uplifting the society and the people, it’s a typical feeling,most people would work away after losing election,but this is not so with Onyedi Okwulehie,am particularly impressed with his large heart in touching the lives of his people positively.

He therefore called on other politicial leaders to be their brother’s keeper and use their positions of authority to emulate the exemplary life of Hon Onyedi Okwulehie and reach out to their members while wishing him well in his future politicial endeavours.

On his part, Paramount Chief Dr Charles Onwuneme,Aju Vu Ohuhu, Ahia of Umuahia and TPM Gburugburu also lauded Onyedi Okwulehie saying that he has done well.

Traditional Royal Ambassador of Ohuhu said that Onyedi is following the footsteps of his late father, Dee Sam Okwulehie stating that he is a chip of the old block.

TPM Gburugburu Dr Charles Onwuneme added that palliative largesse from Onyedi Okwulehie was worth doing to cushion the effects of current economic realities,prayed God to give him more life adding it shall be well with him and his family.

Also speaking,,the former elected Executive Chairman of Umuahia North LGA, High Chief Hon Chidiebere Nwachukwu extolled sterling leadership qualities of Onyedi Okwulehie,that this kind gesture needs to be emulated.
There are those who are currently serving the people have have not considered worthwhile to remember some members of their constituents that in abject poverty and want at this hard times.

He pointed out that he was by no means surprised with what Onyedi Okwulehie has been doing having learnt such good track records from his late father,Dee Dee Sam Okwulehie.

The Chairman Umuahia North Traditional rulers Council,HRM Eze Innocent Nwigwe said that the palliative shared by Onyedi Okwulehie is what they have been advocating for their sons in diaspora should come back home and assist in community development.

” What Onyedi has done today is a typical of his late father,Dee Sam Okwulehie,whom he described as a great leader and former mayor with his son replicating those sterling leadership qualities is worth commending”

To this end,Eze Innocent Nwigwe extolled him for touching the lives of his people positively noting that Onyedi’s humility has no boundary , saying that calling on the royal fathers to come and witness the distribution process of palliative to their subjects is quite commendable.

Also speaking,the traditional ruler of Ekeoba autonomous community,His Royal Kingship,Eze Iheanyiukwu Nkwokenna,Oba 1 of Ekeoba showered praises to Onyedi Okwulehie for coming to the rescue of his people at this crucial time when the bitting inflation has devastated the economy.

Eze Iheanyiukwu Nkwokenna noted that Hon Onyedi Okwulehie reads the minds of his people well,stating that he knows that people are hungry,things are hard, people had protested for hunger strike,bad governance, decided to come their rescue.

Oba 1 of Ekeoba further pointed out that not minding what he passed through winning election and losing it at the court ,he called people across three politicial divides in Umuahia North to come and benefit from the palliatives irrespective party affiliation.

Whereas ,the former Chairman of Umuahia North Traditional rulers Council,HRH Eze Onyemachi Ibezim of Amuzukwu Ibeku noted that hunger is the greatest problem we have today as a nation and anybody who tackles the problem of hunger that God should bless him.

He added Onyedi Okwulehie has done very well remembering the plight of Umuahia North and coming to assist them cushion effects of inflationary trend bitting everyone today in Nigeria.

High Chief Charles Onwuneme was not left of eminent personalities that appreciated kind disposition of Onyedi Okwulehie towards Ohuhu people ‘s welfare especially so now that economic realities is staring all and sundry in the face.

In their own separate appreciations,Comrade Chibuike Emmanuel ( Ecomog) President Niger Delta Youths Peace Builders and Chief Okechukwu David Ekeoba , President General,Ohuhu Clan Welfare Union,Aba branch both lauded Hon Onyedi Okwulehie for coming to the rescue of their people through the provisions of palliative, noting that if God blesses him with a nice position,he will certainly do more .

The duo expressed delight in associating themselves with Onyedi popularly called the Lord Mayor.

The palliative largesse distribution ceremony attracted the presence of Abia State APC Chairman,Dr Kingsley Ononogbu,five traditional rulers from Ohuhu land and Ibeku such as HRM Eze Innocent Nwigwe, Chairman, Umuahia North Traditional rulers Council,HRH Eze Charles Chionye Ngwuli, Chairman Ohuhu Council of Traditional rulers,HRM Eze Onyemachi Ibezim,the immediate past Chairman, Umuahia North Council of Traditional rulers,His Royal Kingship,Oba 1 Ekeoba,Eze Iheanyiukwu Nkwokenna, former Chairman, Ohuhu Council of Traditional rulers,HRM Eze Nnamdi Ofoegbu,Oroko Abia and the Traditional ruler Umudiawa Autonomous community,Ohuhu,Chief Moses Nwakanma,the traditional prime minister of Okpu Isingwu.
