Abia House: Member Elect,Aaron Uzodike cries out over delay in his inauguration, saying no known law in land is stopping Mr Speaker from doing the needful.

Umuahia.

The member elect,Aba North state constituency,Hon Sir Aaron Uzodike Emmanuel has cried out to the public to prevail on the Speaker, Abia State House of Assembly,Rt Hon Emmanuel Emeruwa to do the needful by inaugurating him to join his colleagues in the 8th Assembly pointing out that there is no known laws in the land stopping his inauguration .

Hon Sir Aaron Uzodike Emmanuel who was a member of the 7th Abia House of Assembly made this appeal during a press briefing with journalists in Umuahia wondering why the Speaker Abia House of Assembly will continue to delay his inauguration since he was declared winner by the Court of Appeal sitting in Lagos, November 7,2023.

The PDP candidate in the March15,2023 election said that when he visited Mr Speaker in his office for inauguration, armed with all the revenant documents,,Mr Speaker told him that there was an order from above stopping him from being sworn in, wondering where order is coming from without any legal frame work.

The embattled member elect from Aba North however regretted since last year the court of competent jurisdiction removed the labour party candidate, Hon Destiny Nwagwu from Abia House and ruled in his favour, the people of the state constituency have been denied the opportunity of having a representation, and at such do not know what is going on in the Abia House of Assembly.

He wondered why the order from above should stop his inauguration pointing out that Appeal court ruled in his favour, the electoral umpire issued him with certificate of returns as the winner of the said election but Mr Speaker has refused to do the needful to obey the court judgment by inaugurating him when there is no known laws in the land stopping his inauguration.

Hon Aaron Uzodike Emmanuel said as a law abiding citizen of this country that he would not take laws into his hands by forcing himself into the Abia State House of Assembly, therefore appeal to Governor Alex Otti to direct Mr Speaker to swear him in without further delay so as to join other law makers to make laws for good governance in the State as provided by the law.

Narrating his ordeals to newsmen,Hon Aaron Uzodike disclosed that on the 7th day of November,2023,the Court of Appeal sitting in Lagos delivered a judgement in his favour and made an order that the Labour Party’s candidate certificate of returns should be withdrawn and that INEC should issue him with the certificate of returns as the winner of 15th March,2023 Aba North state constituency election.

However,on 13th day of December,2023, I was issued with a certificate of returns by INEC and on 14th day of December,2024,he submitted all his documents such as: certificate of returns, certified true copy of court judgment to Mr Speaker as it is done in the Abia House of Assembly and National Assembly respectively, but alas,on 18th January,2024,he scheduled him for inauguration ceremony on the said day,he told him that his inauguration can no longer take place, when I asked him, why,he said there was an” order from above stopping him from inaugurating him wondering where the order is coming from without any legal back up.

Continuing, the member elect said ironically on 19th January,2024, a day after his inauguration was stalled,Hon Destiny Nwagwu filled a suit at State High Court Obehie, joined him,the Speaker, Abia House of Assembly,Mr Speaker and Attorney General of the State that he was personally investigating his certificate ,the Speaker in a letter through his Chief Press Secretary said he can no longer swear him in because of the suit instituted against him.

But alas, when the matter came up for the first hearing, the litigant did not appear in court, and since then, the matter has been struck out for lacking in merit, yet,Mr Speaker did not want to obey the law,the judgement of court of competent jurisdiction on his inauguration ceremony as a member of the 8th Abia House of Assembly.

On this score,”let me once again plead with the Governor Alex Otti as the father of the state and believer of rule of law to prevail on Mr Speaker to swear me in”.

Hon Aaron Uzodike Emmanuel also debunked insinuations in some quarters that traditional rulers from his constituency are calling for his seat to be declared vacant saying they are not royal fathers from Aba North but Aba Central state Constituency while calling on the public to ignore them because they are not from his area .
